The residential installations we carry out most often span a wide range of domestic settings. Each space has different technical requirements that our team takes into account right from the quote stage.

How it blends with your interior design
The starry sky is installed through the existing plasterboard (in the vast majority of cases) or onto newly built drop ceilings. The diameter of the holes is 1–1.5 mm: invisible during the day when the sky is off, magical at night when they come to life. Our technical team sizes the star density (typically 200–400 stars per square meter in residential projects), the type of effect (static sky, shooting stars, astronomically correct real constellations), the color temperature and the possible presence of dynamic RGB effects according to how you will use the space.
How much does a starry sky cost in a private home
A Cobb kit for a typical residential ceiling (4 sq m – 12 sq m) has a cost that depends on several factors. Giving a hypothetical price range does not capture all the customizations that our made-to-measure fiber optic kits are able to offer you. A starry sky at home — the answers
Can a starry sky be installed on existing drywall without redoing the ceiling?
Yes, it’s the most common residential application. The fibers pass through 1-1.5 mm holes drilled from above. There’s no need to dismantle the drywall: we work from the attic, the loft, or an accessible false ceiling. Once the holes are drilled, the installer goes back over them and fixes the fiber ends flush with the ceiling.
Is a starry sky safe in a children's room?
Absolutely. Electricity never runs through fiber optics — the light travels as an optical signal from the light source (illuminator) hidden elsewhere. No voltage in the ceiling, no heat, no fire risk. It’s among the safest possible installations for a children’s room.
How much power does a home starry sky use?
Very little: the LED illuminator draws 20-50W depending on star density and area. The equivalent of a LED desk lamp. In nighttime standby, consumption is practically zero. An average family notices no change on their bill.
How long does it take between order and installation?
Production: 3-4 weeks from final payment. Typical installation for a bedroom: 1 full day (sometimes 2 if the ceiling requires additional preparation). Can I control the starry sky with my smartphone?
Yes, through the Cobb controller’s dedicated app (iOS/Android). You can adjust intensity and color temperature, and program dynamic effects (shooting stars, pulsations, nighttime scenes with gradual dimming). It also integrates with Home Assistant, Alexa, and Google Home via the chosen home-automation protocol.
