Cobb has developed kits designed specifically for the marine environment: the PMMA fiber optics withstand humidity and salinity well, the LED illuminators can be housed in ventilated technical compartments, and the entire installation can be integrated with the most widely used onboard home-automation systems in the Italian and international shipbuilding sectors.

Does it withstand the jolts and vibrations of the sea?

Yes. Our marine kits pass vibration tests specific to marine applications (waves, engines, navigation routes). The fibers, secured with a dedicated locking system, do not undergo problematic movement. The light source is mounted with anti-vibration brackets in the technical compartment.

Does it integrate with the onboard home automation system (NMEA 2000, EEBUS)?

Yes. Our controllers support NMEA 2000 (the most widespread marine standard) and EEBUS (the integrated systems of premium Italian shipyards). For yachts with proprietary systems from the major shipyards (Azimut, Ferretti, Benetti, Sanlorenzo), we integrate during the design phase with the shipyard’s electrical engineer.

Can I reproduce an astronomically accurate constellation?

Yes, it is one of our specialties in custom projects. Tell us the reference latitude (where the owner wants to see that sky) and the date/season: we calculate the positions of the main stars of the visible constellations and produce a working drawing of the drilling pattern. Typical delivery 4-6 weeks from the briefing.

Can it be powered directly at 12V or 24V from the onboard system?

Yes, our light sources are available in 12V and 24V versions for direct integration with the onboard electrical system without an inverter. Specify the voltage at the quote stage. The standard 230V AC version remains available for yachts that charge from shore power.
